Rhinoplasty (nose job) what to expect before, during and after
The idea of reshaping your nose can be quite intimidating – but maybe it’s something you’re considering? Whether you are unhappy with how your nose looks or you want to improve its function (yes, rhinoplasty can help with opening breathing passages which can effect issues including snoring).
Your nose is such a central feature that it’s important for you to love how it looks! Regardless of your reasons for choosing this surgery, our goal is to achieve results that are natural-looking while ensuring that nasal function is at its optimum. Our surgeons are highly experienced in this procedure and have a skill for facial artistry – this is something you really need to consider when choosing a clinic – because not all surgeons are created equal!
So if you’re considering rhinoplasty then here’s a little before, during and after info to reassure you and help your decision making process…
Before:
During your initial consultations, our surgeons will discuss your goals and options with you and help you to understand what surgery will involve. The surgeon will examine the bones and cartilage of your nose and face and will take a few photos which can then be used digitally to show you how your new nose will look.
During:
As with many procedures, there isn’t a one-solution answer or standard way to perform rhinoplasty and our surgeons can use a number of different techniques to meet your needs and expectations while also keeping you safe and protecting your nasal structure. Sometimes, incisions are made inside the nose (this is called ‘closed rhinoplasty’ and at others, surgery is performed by making an incision at the bottom of the nose between the nostrils. There is minimal scarring with both options – our surgeons are experts at making sure of it!
The operation will typically take approximately 2-3 hours and most patients are able to go home the same day – making sure that someone is with them for a little tlc.
After:
After any operation there will be a little tenderness and pain but will provide all the pain relief and support to make you as comfortable as possible. And while you won’t be able to do any strenuous activity for a couple of weeks – and you will possibly experience a ‘stuffy’ nose plus some swelling and bruising – these will subside over a few weeks. The important thing to remember is that our team are very qualified, experienced and dedicated to make you look and feel your very best.
