PRP is Platelet Rich Plasma derived from your own blood. PRP is a concentration of platelets rich in growth factors that stimulate collagen production, cell regeneration, and tissue repair. During the treatment, a small amount of blood is drawn, processed through a centrifuge to isolate the PRP, and then strategically injected back into the skin. PRP is often used in conjunction with other treatments depending on the area that will be treated to provide better results.
The areas that can be treated with PRP are:
PRP can be combined with microneedling to enhance the results. When the two are combined, it provides a series of skin benefits such as:
Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure which uses very small needles to induce collagen production by stimulating the skin’s natural healing process. This is because when then thin needles make tiny holes in the top layer of the skin, the skin believes that it is injured and so it begins the healing process which leads to an increase in the production of collagen and elastin. When combining this treatment with PRP, the healing process is intensified and therefore elastin and collagen production are also amplified.
