Mini Tummy Tuck Surgery Dubai | Mini Abdominoplasty

The abdominoplasty procedure is commonly known as the ‘tummy tuck’. This

operation involves the removal of excess skin from the abdomen area, and in

some cases also requires the tightening of the abdominal muscles. The need

for this procedure usually arises during a liposuction surgery which may leave

plenty of excess skin or as a result of dramatic weight loss.

360 Lipo Abdominoplasty Surgery Dubai

This is a combination of a 360 liposuction around the mid-body to achieve the perfect reshaping. Liposuction is performed on the back, flanks and abdomen area prior to the tummy tuck at the same time. Liposuction is the gentle removal of fat, whilst a tummy tuck is the removal of excess skin.

WHAT IS A TUMMY TUCK

A tummy tuck gives patients a flatter, more toned stomach by tightening skin and eliminating extra fat. A tummy tuck is popular with both men and women who are unhappy with their body image, typically as a result of weight loss or pregnancy, or as a result of the natural ageing process. The operation itself entails the removal of fat and skin from the belly as well as the strengthening of the abdominal muscles.

BENEFITS OF A TUMMY TUCK

One of the most significant advantages of getting an abdominoplasty in Dubai is an increase in self-confidence. Some of the additional advantages of a tummy tuck in are:

  • Removal of excess skin resulting in a more contoured appearance
  • Abdominal muscles that have been stretched or injured are repaired
  • Stomach will be firmer and flatter
  • Improved hip-to-waist ratio
  • Long-lasting results

PROCEDURE

Tummy tuck surgery is an outpatient treatment that is conducted under general anaesthetic. It is frequently performed as a day operation, meaning that you will be able to go home the same day.

The process itself might take 2 to 4 hours. All incisions, however, are done near the pubic area, which is low enough to guarantee that any scarring is hidden when wearing underwear or a swimming suit. The size of the incision will also be determined by the degree of the operation necessary. Excess skin and fat will be removed after the surgery, and the abdominal muscles will be strengthened using sutures. Following the operation, the wound will be closed with more sutures.

RECOVERY PROCESS

The recovery process is unique to each patient and is determined by the degree of the operation as well as your general health. Your surgeon will provide you with

detailed aftercare instructions prior to surgery, and you will be given pain medication and a compression garment to help with swelling of the treated region.

There will be some swelling and bruising in the first few days after surgery. You should be able to resume your usual daily habits, including exercise, 2 to 3 weeks after surgery.

Mini Tummy Tuck Surgery Dubai

A mini tummy tuck is used to remove excess fat and tighten muscles to help get back in shape. Unlike a full tummy tuck, the mini tummy tuck is suitable if you are physically fit and simply have a little amount of extra fat or skin to remove.

The main differences are:

  • Incision length: The mini tummy tuck has a smaller incision, which will leave a smaller scar
  • Belly button: In a mini tummy tuck, the belly button will not need to be repositioned, meaning that there will also not be scarring around it
  • Recovery time: less recovery time is needed because the surgery is less invasive
  • Size of the area being treated: The areas of fat and loose skin below the belly button can be treated with a mini tummy tuck

A mini tummy tuck is a less invasive version of a full tummy tuck that focuses exclusively on the lower abdomen. The surgery is similar to a complete tummy tuck, but the term ‘mini’ alludes to the amount of skin and fat removed and the emphasis on the lower abdomen rather than a vast section of the stomach. In contrast to a full tummy tuck, the belly button is not relocated or repaired, and the treatment is usually completed in about 2 hours, with patients returning home the same day. It’s crucial to realise that this is still a surgical operation with a recovery period, although it’s usually significantly shorter than a full tummy tuck.

If you have sagging skin around the tummy, maybe due to significant weight loss after having a baby or simply genetics, it can leave you feeling self-conscious about your appearance. Often, diet and exercise alone will not shift this stubborn fat or tighten the hanging skin, and abdominoplasty, also known as a tummy tuck, may be the answer. A tummy tuck simply helps to remove the fat and loose skin around the abdomen, leaving you with a smoother, more toned and contoured abdomen for many patients, it can be life changing.

Dr. Maurizio Viel, a board-certified plastic surgeon at Cornerstone Clinic Dubai, is a specialist in performing Tummy Tuck surgery in Dubai. With over 30 years of experience, he has transformed the lives of many people by carefully sculpting the figure they have always dreamed about.

We sat down with Dr. Maurizio to answer some of the most common questions our patients ask about tummy tucks in Dubai.

A tummy tuck is a plastic surgery procedure that is performed to improve the appearance of the abdomen. During the surgery, I will carefully remove excess skin and fat from the lower and/or middle abdomen while tightening the abdominal muscles, giving you a flatter, more toned, and more contoured abdomen.

Depending on the amount of fat that needs to be removed, I will generally perform one of two surgeries:

A full tummy tuck: The Full Tummy Tuck is designed to improve both upper and lower abdomen. Patients in good health who have weakened abdominal muscles or excessive skin around their midsection may consider a Full Tummy Tuck to flatten and contour the areas above and below their belly buttons.

A mini tummy tuck: The mini tummy tuck address only the lower abdomen- the area below the belly button. The patients who are concerned by a “pooch”, loose skin or stretch marks below their belly button may consider a mini tummy tuck. This procedure I often performed for women who have gained weight during pregnancy to help restore their pre-baby shape.

An ideal candidate for a tummy tuck would be a healthy man or woman who has excess fat around the abdomen that they have not been able to reshape through diet and exercise alone. Often, people who have lost excessive amounts of weight and have excess skin also require a tummy tuck to correct the hanging skin. Women who have recently had children and are struggling with the excess fat and skin from pregnancy are also good candidates for what is known as a mummy makeover.

A tummy tuck will leave some degree of scarring, as I will make incisions in the abdomen to allow me access to remove the fat and tighten the muscles. However, I will place the incisions below the waistline so they will not be visible and can be concealed when wearing underwear or a swimsuit. Over time, the scars will also fade, making them much less noticeable.

Yes, it is quite common to perform multiple procedures during one surgery to achieve the best results. The most common combinations I perform with tummy tucks are breast augmentation and liposuction. Most patients opt to have liposuction with their tummy tuck, as this helps to achieve a much more contoured appearance.

On average, the operation takes around 3–4 hours and is dependent on how much fat and skin need to be removed. If you are adding in other procedures, such as liposuction or breast augmentation, then it will naturally take a bit longer.

Every patient’s recovery will be different depending on the extent of their surgery and their body’s natural ability to heal. However, most patients take two weeks off work and can be cleared to get back to their full range of activities after 4 weeks. You will also need to wear a compression garment for 4 weeks post-surgery, which helps eliminate swelling and sculpt your new shape.

Your tummy tuck results are considered permanent as the skin and fat that I will remove during surgery cannot grow back. However, significant weight fluctuations after surgery can cause the remaining skin to lose elasticity and start to sag again. Therefore, to maintain your results, you will need to follow a healthy lifestyle, including regular exercise and eating a balanced diet.
