BRACHIOPLASTY (ARM LIFT)

Following substantial weight loss, rapid skin retraction can struggle to keep pace with fat reduction, requiring Brachioplasty for upper arm tightening, removing excess skin

WHAT IS ARM LIFT SURGERY

Excessive weight loss can leave behind loose, sagging skin, especially when it comes to the upper arms, which can result in a source of frustration as the skin tends not to go back, causing a sense of frustration for many individuals who desire a contoured physique after weight loss. At Cornerstone Clinic, located in Dubai Matina, we offer rhinoplasty, also known as arm lift, which is an arm contouring surgery designed to remove this excess skin and reshape the upper arms for a more sculpted and youthful appearance.

Following substantial weight loss, rapid skin retraction can struggle to keep pace with fat reduction. This results in loose, excess skin that hangs from the upper arms and can be caused by:

  • Skin Elasticity: As we age, our skin naturally loses elasticity, making it less able to go back after significant weight loss.
  • Genetics: Some individuals are predisposed to having less elastic skin.
  • Amount of Weight Loss: The greater the weight loss, the more likely you are to experience loose skin.

BENEFITS OF BRACHIOPLASTY

  • Enhanced Arm Definition: The procedure removes excess skin, resulting in firmer and tighter upper arms
  • Confidence Boost: By achieving a more sculpted appearance, brachioplasty can significantly enhance your confidence when wearing sleeveless clothing.

PROCEDURE

Initially, there will be a consultation at Cornerstone Clinic, Dubai Marina, with our board-certified plastic surgeon. The surgeon will thoroughly evaluate your needs and discuss your goals for arm reshaping. The surgeon will assess your skin quality, the extent of excess skin, and your overall health to determine if brachioplasty is the right option for you.

The surgeon will make incisions on the underside of the upper arms, and the length and location of the incisions will depend on the amount of excess skin. Subsequently, the doctor will remove the excess skin and tighten the underlying tissues to create a more sculpted look, and the incisions will be closed with sutures.

A full recovery will be made a couple of weeks after the procedure, and a follow-up appointment will be made to check on the healing process and removal of the stitches.

The brachioplasty procedure is typically performed on an outpatient basis under general anaesthesia.

The surgery takes approximately 2-3 hours, and most patients can return home on the same day. It is important to remember that strenuous activities should be avoided for 4 to 6 weeks postoperatively and always after a consultation with the surgeon.
