Breast Augmentation: What You Need To Know

Basic Facts About Breast Augmentation

Do you think your breasts are too small? Is one bigger than the other? Do you dislike your breasts since having children and breastfeeding or after significant weight loss? Well it’s ok to want to change your body and choose the kind of breasts that you actually want – and we can help!

Breast augmentation (or a ‘boob job’) is readily accepted as a very normal and understandable solution for so many women (and men) who are unhappy with the way that their breasts look and feel – it’s definitely one of the most opted for procedures in the world of cosmetic surgery these days.

There are all kinds of misconceptions about breast augmentation and many scare stories too – so we want to help put your mind at ease and give you the basic facts so that you can understand better before deciding…

  • Breast Augmentation involves placing implants in each breast to get the desired shape and size
  • Implants can be saline or silicone – there are benefits to each and it very much depends on each patient – we will always advise on ‘gummy bear’ implants which are high-cohesive silicon gel implants that will not leak and have a lifetime guarantee.
  • The procedure takes around 1 to 1.5 hours and is not painful – you will be fully anaesthetised and looked after
  • After surgery, you will feel some soreness in the armpit and chest area – this is normal
  • Your new implants will take up to 3 months on average to adjust and look natural – the time depends on factors including your age and how well your body recovers
  • The best things come to those who wait – and breast implants are no exception! If you allow yourself to recover (no heavy weights or strain!) and you rest and take care of your health then you will feel and look great in the best way possible. We recommend resting for the week after your procedure – no rushing about!
  • Breast augmentation can’t correct ‘sagging’ breasts – for this you might need a breast lift which is a different procedure. Whatever you need, we can advise and then make it happen!
  • We will advise on the best size for your body – because bigger is not always better and you want to look good plus not put strain on your back and supporting areas.
