Whilst in Portugal she was owner and leading dentist in her Lisbon private practice. She has wide skills within the dentistry industry. Dr. Carla’s clinical practice is grounded in evidence-based dentistry and current scientific literature in biological and integrative dentistry, saliva diagnostics, oral microbiome science, nitric oxide, preventive dentistry, minimally invasive dentistry, aesthetic dentistry and the oral-systemic health connection.
Because I don’t just treat teeth—I evaluate how your oral health relates to your overall health. The mouth is closely connected to the rest of the body, and conditions such as gum disease, dry mouth, bite imbalances and chronic inflammation may influence your wellbeing. My goal is to identify the root cause and create a personalized treatment plan that supports both oral health and longevity.
BioSmile Longevity is my clinical philosophy that combines modern dentistry with prevention, science and personalized care. It focuses on preserving natural teeth, improving oral function, reducing inflammation and helping patients maintain healthy smiles for life. I believe dentistry should not only restore smiles but also contribute to overall health, performance and healthy aging.
Saliva is one of the most valuable diagnostic tools in dentistry. I assess salivary flow, pH, viscosity and nitric oxide because they provide important information about oral health and may help identify risk factors before symptoms develop. Saliva also plays a key role in protecting teeth, supporting the oral microbiome, aiding digestion and maintaining a healthy mouth.
When veneers are carefully planned, minimally prepared, bonded using the correct adhesive techniques and fabricated with high-quality ceramic materials, they can last for decades. Their longevity also depends on good oral hygiene, regular preventive care and protecting the teeth from excessive forces when necessary.
My philosophy is to preserve as much natural tooth structure as possible while creating beautiful, functional and long-lasting smiles. I have patients whose veneers have remained healthy and aesthetically stable for more than 20 years, thanks to meticulous planning, premium materials, precise bonding protocols and ongoing maintenance.
Long-term oral health depends on prevention, regular professional care, excellent home hygiene, a balanced diet, healthy saliva and treating problems early. My philosophy is to preserve natural teeth whenever possible. In the case of veneers, they can last for decades in excellent condition and help patients maintain healthy smiles that support their overall health and quality of life.
