What is the most effective approach to maintaining a rejuvenated appearance as we age? We sat down with our plastic surgeon at Cornerstone Clinic, Dr Maurizio Viel, so that he could share his recommendations on the most effective rejuvenation treatments, as well as potential surgical options for women in their 30s, 40s, and 50+.

WOMEN IN THEIR 30s:

• Neuromodulators: Botox (Dysport). Botox is a highly diluted botulinum toxin used to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and combat the signs of ageing by blocking nerve signals and preventing facial muscles from contracting, which causes wrinkles.
• Skin boosters: There are many options to choose from, such as:
  • NCTF, also known as mesotherapy, which utilises vitamin, amino acid, mineral, and plant extract injections to rejuvenate and tighten the skin.
  • Salmon DNA, which involves small injections of polynucleotides derived from salmon DNA to revitalise aged cells and stimulate collagen production.
  • Profhilo, which is a skin booster made up of non-crosslinked hyaluronic acid (HA) used as a bio-remodelling treatment that mainly focuses on skin hydration, rejuvenation and a slow build of collagen and elastin over time.
• Body reshaping:
  • Non-invasive: Venus Legacy, a procedure for contouring the body and tightening the skin, by stimulating collagen and elastin production, which will improve skin texture and elasticity thus helping with the appearance of cellulite sagging skin.
  • Invasive (surgical): VASER Liposuction, a US-patented technology that uses powerful waves to target fat cells without damaging the surrounding tissue. VASER liposuction is ideal for stubborn fat deposits that do not respond to conventional exercise.
• Breast augmentation: a very common procedure in patients for various motives which could be due to aesthetic reasons or due to asymmetry in the breast since ageing, childbearing, and weight loss can all impact breast volume over time. Breast augmentation can allay these worries and raise self-esteem.

WOMEN IN THEIR 40s:

• Dermal fillers: target the loss of skin elasticity and help decrease the effects of volume loss, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, as well as helping to contour your face, leaving a more enhanced or symmetrical appearance.

  • Ozone therapy, which is an effective and minimally invasive procedure that can be used for joint pain, back pain, and as a means to support general well-being, boost immune system performance, and boost vitality.
  • Stem cell rejuvenation, the stem cells are obtained from a patient’s own fat or blood,  they are then extracted and processed to then be reinjected into targeted areas of the face by stimulating collagen production, improving skin texture and elasticity, and potentially reducing wrinkles and scars.
  • Benefits: Stem cell therapy aims to address the root causes of ageing by stimulating collagen production, improving skin texture and elasticity, and potentially reducing wrinkles and scars.
