After the surgery, you will be required to wear a large dressing around your face for 24 hours. Your surgeon will remove these the following day, and you will then be required to wear a supportive elastic bandage to help speed up your recovery and to hold your face in the correct position. You will have bruising and swelling to the face that typically lasts 1-2 weeks. You can ice your face during this time and take pain medication and anti-inflammatory drugs to aid in the recovery process. On average, people can return to work 2 weeks after surgery.
