Sagging eyelids or eyebags? Dr. Maurizio Viel discusses blepharoplasty in Dubai.

Sagging eyelids or eyebags are one of the first signs of aging and can leave your face looking tired and puffy, which can have a dramatic impact on your self-confidence. Sagging eyelids occur when the skin on the upper eyelid becomes loose and droopy, and this can be due to aging, genetics, or lifestyle factors. Under-eye bags, on the other hand, are caused by the accumulation of fat and fluid under the lower eyelid, creating a puffy or swollen appearance. Luckily, blepharoplasty in Dubai can help address both of these concerns.

Blepharoplasty is a safe and effective way to rejuvenate the appearance of the eyes and achieve a more youthful and refreshed look. Our Italian cosmetic surgeon, Dr Maurizio Viel, at Cornerstone Clinic Dubai, has extensive experience performing this procedure and can help you achieve the results you desire.

In this article, Dr. Maurizio Viel will be answering the most common questions our patients ask about blepharoplasty in Dubai:

Question 1: What can blepharoplasty in Dubai help with?

Blepharoplasty can help with many concerns our patients have about the appearance of their eyes, including sagging or drooping eyelids that can obstruct vision or create a tired appearance. Puffy or baggy lower eyelids caused by excess fat and skin. Fine lines, wrinkles, and crepey skin around the eyes. Hollowing under the eyes that creates a sunken or tired appearance and uneven or asymmetrical eyelids. Blepharoplasty helps to improve the overall appearance of the eyes and can help to restore a more alert, youthful, and refreshed appearance. Blepharoplasty can also improve vision if sagging eyelids are obstructing the visual field.

Question 2: Is there anything I need to do to prepare myself before surgery?

Yes, there are several ways you can prepare for blepharoplasty surgery in Dubai. First, you will attend a consultation with me to determine if you are a good candidate for surgery and to discuss your goals and expectations. I will then perform a medical examination to ensure you are healthy enough to undergo the procedure. You will also need to stop taking certain medications, such as aspirin or anti-inflammatory drugs, which can increase the risk of bleeding. If you are a smoker, you will need to quit a few weeks before your surgery, as smoking can interfere with your healing process and increase the risk of complications.

Question 3: How long do I need to recover from blepharoplasty surgery?

The recovery time varies depending on the extent of the procedure performed as well as other factors such as age. However, most patients need one to two weeks to recover. You will experience some discomfort, swelling, and bruising immediately after surgery, for which I will prescribe pain medication, and I would advise using a cold compress during this time to speed up your recovery. After a week or two, you should be able to return to light daily activities, but you should avoid strenuous activities for several weeks. I will also ask you to return for a check-up consultation so that I can monitor your healing and results.

Question 4: Will I have scarring after surgery?

Yes, there will be small scars after surgery, but with the skilled techniques I use, they will be concealed, so you will barely notice them. For upper eyelid blepharoplasty, I will make an incision in the natural crease of the eyelid, so the scar will be hidden in the crease and will not be noticeable at all when your eyes are open. For lower eyelid blepharoplasty, I will make the incision just below the lash line or on the inside of the lower eyelid, so again, the scar will be well concealed. Scars from blepharoplasty surgery also fade over time.

Question 5: How long do the results of blepharoplasty last?

Blepharoplasty will remove excess skin and fat and improve the appearance of the eyelids, restoring a more youthful look. However, it does not stop the aging process, so, depending on the procedure, you can expect the results to last anywhere from 10 to 20 years. To help maintain your results, it is important to look after your skin with a good skincare routine, avoid smoking and excessive sun exposure, and follow a healthy lifestyle.
