Tummy Tuck in Dubai

Abdominoplasty in Dubai, more commonly known as a “tummy tuck,” is a body contouring procedure that flattens and contours the abdomen and waist. Surplus skin caused by ageing, genetics, pregnancy, or weight changes may develop around the abdomen, leaving you feeling self-conscious about your image. A tummy tuck can easily remove the skin, repair weak muscles, and tighten your abdomen, giving you the contoured look you desire.

What is a Tummy Tuck?

A tummy tuck provides patients with a relatively flatter, more toned stomach, tightening skin and removing excess fat. Popular with both men and women who are unhappy with their body image, often following weight loss or pregnancy, or because of the natural ageing process, a tummy can be performed to restore a more contoured look. The procedure itself involves the removal of fat and skin from the abdomen and the tightening of the muscles around the abdomen.

What are the benefits of a tummy tuck?

There are many benefits to having an abdominoplasty in Dubai, one of the foremost being a boost in self-confidence. Below we have listed some of the other benefits you may enjoy from a tummy tuck in Dubai:

  • Removes excess skin giving a more contoured look
  • Repairs strained or damaged abdominal muscles
  • Can help improves self-confidence

What is the procedure for a tummy tuck?

There will be an initial consultation with Dr Maurizio Viel to assess and discuss your personal needs. Once you are happy with the proposed procedure, you will be booked in for your surgery. A tummy tuck is an outpatient procedure performed under sedation or general anaesthesia depending on the surgery. It is usually performed as a day surgery, meaning you can go home the same day but in some cases Dr Maurizio Viel may recommend overnight stay.

The procedure itself can take anywhere from two to four hours, depending on the patient. The incision size will also depend on the extent of the surgery required. However, all incisions are made close to the pubic area, which is low enough to ensure any scarring will be concealed when wearing underwear or a bathing suit. Once the incision is made, excess skin and fat will be removed, and the abdominal muscles will be tightened with sutures. After your procedure, the incision will be closed with further sutures and your surgery will be complete.

Am I a good candidate for a tummy tuck?

This can only be determined by our plastic surgeons and your individual needs and overall health will be discussed at the consultation stage. The best candidates for a tummy tuck, however, are patients who are generally in good health, but have loose skin or large abdominal fat deposits that do not respond to diet and exercise. Women whose abdomens have been stretched from pregnancy may also benefit from a tummy tuck.

Good candidates for a tummy tuck are:

  • Patients who are unhappy with the appearance of their abdomen
  • Patients who struggle to achieve their desired results through diet and exercise
  • Patients who are in good health
  • Patients who are close to their ideal weight

What is the recovery process for a tummy tuck?

The recovery process is individual for each patient and is based on the extent of the surgery you are undergoing as well as your overall health.  You will be supplied with full aftercare instructions by your surgeon prior to surgery. You will also be given pain medication and you will receive a compression garment to reduce swelling and to support the contouring of the treated area.

In the first few days post-surgery, there will naturally be some swelling and bruising, and we advise you to rest as much as possible during this time. After one week, you will need to return to the clinic for an assessment and for your stitches to be removed. Within two to three weeks post-surgery, you should be able to return to your normal daily routines, including exercise.

After six to eight weeks post-surgery, you should now be able to stop wearing your compression garment, and you will start to see the results of your surgery. A further follow-up appointment will then take place to assess the results and healing of the treated area.
