CIRCUMCISION (ADULTS)

For some men, the decision to consider circumcision arises later in life. While commonly performed on newborns, adult circumcision offers various benefits and can be a viable option for those seeking medical concerns. It is most commonly required when the foreskin is tight (phimosis) and will not retract (paraphimosis).

Circumcision can be advised in adults for recurrent medical reasons which can cause severe discomfort in patients, such as:

Phimosis: This condition occurs when the foreskin becomes tight and cannot retract fully, potentially causing pain, infection, or difficulty urinating.
Paraphimosis: When the retracted foreskin gets trapped behind the glans and cannot return to its original position, causing swelling and discomfort.
Recurrent balanitis (inflammation of the glans) or posthitis (inflammation of the foreskin)

While the procedure itself takes about an hour, recovery from adult circumcision typically takes 4-6 weeks. Here’s what to expect:
