Ultimately, today’s aesthetic treatments are not about chasing perfection. They are about restoring confidence, investing in wellbeing and helping women feel like the most energised, refreshed version of themselves. Because sometimes, the smallest changes can make the biggest difference to how we show up for ourselves and the people we love.

At Cornerstone Clinic Dubai, this philosophy sits at the heart of patient care. One treatment that continues to grow in popularity is Botox and Dysport. Despite being one of the world’s most widely performed non-surgical aesthetic procedures, many women remain unsure about how it works, what results to expect and whether it is the right choice for them. Contrary to common misconceptions, modern Botox and Dysport treatments are designed to soften rather than freeze facial expressions. By temporarily relaxing specific muscles responsible for repetitive movements such as frowning or squinting, Botox and Dysport help to reduce the appearance of existing lines while preventing deeper wrinkles from forming over time.
During a consultation, the practitioner carefully assesses facial movement by asking patients to smile, raise their eyebrows and make a variety of expressions. Small amounts of the chosen product are then precisely administered into targeted areas, such as the forehead, crow’s feet or frown lines between the brows. Beyond smoothing lines, Botox has several additional medical and wellbeing benefits. It can be used to help manage excessive sweating and certain types of headaches, including migraines, making it a versatile treatment that extends beyond cosmetic concerns.

During periods of economic or social uncertainty, why do people still often turn to aesthetic treatments as a way to feel more in control of their lives?
In thirty years of practice, across London, Milan and now Dubai, I’ve noticed something consistent: when the world feels unpredictable, people instinctively reach for the things they can still shape. The headlines, the markets, what’s happening in our children’s classrooms, the cost of everything- most of that is beyond our control. But how you look when you catch your reflection in the lift mirror on the way to a meeting? That’s a small, contained piece of life you can still take care of. I see it as a very human response.
From a psychological perspective, why can subtle treatments like Botox have such a powerful impact on confidence and emotional wellbeing?
There’s a beautiful piece of science behind this, what psychologists call the facial feedback hypothesis. When the muscles that pull our brow into a permanent worried furrow are softened, the brain receives fewer of those “I’m anxious” signals, and people genuinely report feeling lighter. But honestly, I think it’s simpler than that too. When a tired mother looks in the mirror at 7am and recognises herself again, not a stranger, not “someone who looks how I feel” her whole day starts differently. That ripple effect is what I find moving as a clinician. The trend in 2026, and the one we strongly stand behind at Cornerstone, is baby Botox and expressive Botox.
What advice would you give to women who are interested in aesthetic treatments but want to approach them in a healthy, balanced and confidence-led way?
Three pieces of advice I give every new patient, and the same I’d give my own daughter or sister.
First: start with a conversation, not a treatment. A good clinic should be just as willing to talk you out of something as into it. If anyone is pushing you toward a procedure on a first visit, leave.
Second: protect the long game. Your face at sixty is built by the choices you make in your thirties and forties. Less is genuinely more. The most beautiful results I’ve seen across thirty years are on women who did a little, consistently, over many years, not a lot, suddenly, before a wedding or a birthday.
Third: separate the want from the why. If you want a treatment because you saw it on Instagram this morning, wait two weeks. If you still want it, come and talk to us. If you want it because you don’t recognise yourself anymore and it’s affecting how you show up for the people you love, that’s a very different and very valid reason. The healthiest patients I see are the ones who treat aesthetics like they treat fitness or nutrition, quietly, consistently, for themselves.
