“Following breast cancer treatment, the skin often undergoes noticeable changes,” says Ruhil Badiani, Consultant Family Physician at Cornerstone Clinic Dubai. “Surgical areas may show scarring or tightness, chemotherapy can cause dryness and sensitivity, and radiation may lead to pigmentation and texture changes. Some of these changes can be long-term, but with ongoing care, most patients see gradual improvement over the months and years following recovery.”

“Gentle skin treatments can begin once healing is complete and your oncologist confirms it’s safe,” says Dr Badiani. “Medical-grade moisturisers and barrier-repair creams help restore hydration. Low-energy laser and microneedling can improve scarring and texture after several months. LED light therapy reduces inflammation without downtime. Avoid active ingredients like retinoids or acids until sensitivity settles. Focus on soothing, rebuilding and protecting the skin to support long-term recovery.”
