PAEDIATRIC CARE

A family physician can see children of any age, whether they are a few
days old or a teenager. The benefits of seeing a family physician is that
they can continue to see your children once they are in adulthood. If both
you and your child are unwell they can also see both of you, saving you
time and not having to go to 2 separate appointments.

Common conditions that we treat:

  • Rashes
  • Coughs and colds
  • Asthma
  • Tummy aches
  • Eye conditions such as conjunctivitis
  • Developmental delays
  • Vomiting and diarrhoea
  • Fevers

I am concerned my child has asthma, can they be seenby a family physician?

A family doctor is able to diagnose and treat children with asthma. They use the current guidelines for treatment,

if your child’s asthma is severe or does not respond to treatment then a paediatric respiratory review would be organised.

I am worried about my child’s eczema, do I have to see a dermatologist?

Our doctors can diagnose and treat eczema and children often do not need to see a dermatologist. Using a combination of creams, ointments and bath products we can greatly improve the condition of your child’s skin. One of the advantages of seeing a family doctor is that they can spend time discussing the nature of a chronic condition like eczema and talk to you in detail about treatment choices.
