are extremely common. They affect people of all ages and in addition to the physical

skin conditions can be treated by a family physician simply and most will resolve quickly.

  • Rashes

  • Fungal infections
  • Bites and stings
  • Molloscum contagiosum

I keep getting athlete’s foot, can the family doctor see me?

Fungal infections, like athlete’s foot, can be distressing and recurrent. The doctor can discuss a wide range

of treatment and how to prevent recurrence with you. Other fungal infections on the skin and nails can also be treated with great results by the doctor. Some treatments may take some time and your doctor can discuss how to ensure it is fully completed and how to prevent it from coming back. In some cases there maybe an underlying condition causing fungal infections such as diabetes, the family doctor will also make sure to rule these out.

I am not sure if my rash is eczema or an allergy. With a thorough history and examination your doctor can distinguish between the 2 conditions and make sure you receive the correct treatment. They will ask what worsens it, what your occupation is and what treatment you have already tried. Further examinations such as skin swabs and scraping maybe be required which they can organise for you.
